It's Semi Homemade

My husband has always talked about one of his favorite desserts when he was a child was butter roll pie.  One weekend while visiting his mother, she made a butter roll pie.   Since I have always heard about this famous pie, I wanted to watch and learn how to make it.

The first step is to make the dough like biscuits and roll it out.
.
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar and lots of butter!
Roll it up and slice.

She poured a little water in it and baked at 350 degrees until brown.  You can see that it really did have the consistency of a pie and was really DELICIOUS.

One of my favorite cooking shows was Sandra Lee because everything she did was semi-homemade.

Keep it simple, keep it smart, keep it sweet, keep it semi-homemade.  Here is my version of butter roll pie the Sandra Lee way.

I thawed out 6 frozen biscuits.
Instant dough

Roll out and spread on butter.
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar.

Roll up and slice
I mixed up a little glaze with confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla flavoring.
My version of Butter Roll Pie the Sandra Lee way.  Mine did not have the pie consistency because I didn't add any water before baking.  They were just like mini cinnamon rolls and DELICIOUS!.
