Welcome

We have been working on one room at a time and our little "fixer upper" is finally becoming a home.

Our church in Woodstock presented this to us on the last Sunday before we moved.

I finally have a place where I can sit and put on my makeup!

Last October, I posted about trying to decide on a color for the front door.

Well, we decided to change the door.

Construction workers again.

Look what we found when the door and trim was removed!
Stay tuned for the finished door.

Just A Few More Days

In just a few days we will be finished with the main part of the house.  There are still some ongoing projects but at least we can "officially" move in.

The kitchen is done.

My husband installed the subway tile.

He installed a new a countertop, sink, refrigerator, and subway tile in the basement.

Bathrooms are done.

The new room addition has been added and almost completed.
Still have new columns to build.

Saturday may be move in day!  Yay!  We started this renovation last October and lived in two little rooms upstairs.
That blue tarp was the entrance to our living quarters for 4 months.

Now the fun part begins.  Decorating and working outside.  More updates coming soon.

House Jewelry

You ladies know how jewelry can add that special touch to your outfits.  Today the jewelry for my fixer upper was installed and what a difference it makes!

The outside garage lights went from this:

The front porch lights went from this:

To this:

In our previous house, I wanted to change out the ceiling fan in our master bedroom to a chandalier but I just never got around to it.  I found the one I wanted to put in our fixer upper.  It was THE ONE!

I remembered that we already had a chandalier that we took down from the dining room that looked very similar but it was brass.   Why don't I try to "fix it up"!

I decided to spray paint it and then apply a light coat of dark glaze.

I replaced the candle covers because the old ones were yellowed and cracked.  My husband had to cut each one to fit.

The finished project:

I chose coach lights for the foyer and dining room.

Pendant lights over the counter area.

I am loving the "house jewelry".

Finally A Place to Relax

While all the work on the main floor is being done by a contractor, my husband has been working on the basement.  Our goal was to complete the basement so we would have a place to relax and live a somewhat normal life.  After two and a half months, the basement is almost done.  It is smaller than our previous house, but very cozy.

We brought in the basics to get us by for a few weeks.

A new countertop, sink, microwave and mini fridge have been installed in the basement kitchenette.

I still have to paint the cabinets.

What a difference these craftsman shutters make!

I ordered the hinges online from Antique Hardware.  Did you know that these are called "shutterdogs"?

The walk in shower tile is done.

I am in love with this stainless steel farmhouse sink!

Seeing this pull in my driveway today made me jump for joy!

As you can see, it has been a very exciting week at our little fixer upper but there is still more to do.
